Hearts of Hope – part 2

January 9, 2010

As promised more photos from my session with the Giving Is Awesome winners. I LOVED LOVED LOVED this session so much. How gorgeous is the light on the beach and this gorgeous family suits it so well!

I am so happy with the photos and to give them my top collection, which includes 15 desk prints, a session album, 16X24 enlargement, 16X16 storyboard and all the digital negatives on a disk! Phew! What a prize.

I can’t tell you enough, how much this family deserved to win. Apart from their heartbreaking struggles with their childrens health, this family are just so generous, considerate and lovely.

Don’t forget to head down to the 2009 photo of the year competition to cast your vote. Two posts down, or click here. Your vote goes towards the photo winning the title and the family a super enlargement and $50 towards their next session. You also have the chance to win a free photo session and $50 print credit by just commenting on the blog post after you vote. Simple! (You must reside in Hobart or surrounds to enter).

Now that 2009 is over, I have been doing some reflecting of all the photo sessions I had. And I’ve been surprised to find I’ve had a lot. Looking over them all, with some repeat clients (wow) I realised I HAVE to say thankyou to everyone I had a session/s with during the year. You have all helped me immensely in the building of my business and I (obviously) would not be anywhere without you all. So thankyou thankyou thankyou. You have made my first year as a business absolutely AMAZING, I have loved every single photo session!

To round up the year I want to enter ALL OF YOU into a competition to win an enlargement . I’ve entered everyone, although for those of you who had numerous sessions with me I have only selected one photo from all sessions. There would just be too many photos here (as if there isn’t already) and I also fugured this would widen your chances of winning, having only one photo for your friends to vote for instead of  a few getting the votes spread out!

So without further ado – here are the details of the …

2009 PHOTO OF THE YEAR COMP!

All photos are numbered and labelled with the clients surname. Simply pick the photo you love best and go to the poll and click on that number! Easy!

The photo with the most votes WINS:

* One 16X24 enlargement of the photo selected!

* $50 print credit for your session in 2010!

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE (I’ve always wanted to say that!!)

VOTERS COMPETITION

There’s gotta be an incentive to vote right? For all who vote there is a chance for you to win aswell! I will select at random four voters to win:

* free photo session

All you have to do is … VOTE and then write a comment under this post stating you have voted.  :)

Giving Is Awesome Winner!

December 24, 2009

A few weeks ago I posted asking for people to nominate someone who has had a tough year, whether it has been from emotional stress, financial burdens, health problems, the loss of a loved one etc. Now I have the pleasure of announcing the winner of a free photo session and my highest collection, worth over $600.

CONGRATULATIONS Jodie Willis, nominated by the generous Kylee Davie.

Here is the entry submitted by Kylee:

I had the pleasure of meeting Jodie thru Early Childhood Intervention Services, where I take Veronika, earlier this year. Straight away I was drawn to her and the positive energy around her. She is truely beautiful inside and out. Jodie is married to Eddie and together they are blessed with 2 beautiful and perfect boys, Cooper who is 3 and Hamish who is 19 months. When Jodie had her 20 weeks scan when pregnant with Hamish, it was discovered that he has a very rare heart condition, hypoplastic left heart syndrome, where basically only one side of his heart works. Jodie had to go to melbourne when she was around 34 weeks pregnant as her Doctor was not happy for her to have Hamish here. Hamish survived the birth, and was rushed to the Royal Childrens Hospital in Melbourne, (Jodie had to have him at the Womens Hospital). You would need to check with Jodie, but i think he was operated on that day or the next. It was around 7 months later when they got to bring Hamish home, to Hobart. Jodie has had to educate the ambulance officers in her area, how to deal with Hamishes condition, as when he has his episodes when he goes blue, they have had some very fast ambulances trips to the Royal. I think Hamish has had around 7 heart operations since birth, and is hoping to not need any more for around a year. He is so gorgeous and his eyes are amazing, you would love to photograph him!!

When Cooper had an appointment with his paedatrican recently it was discovered that he had murmur in his heart, and because of Hamishes condition they decided to investigate this further. Jodie(and Eddie) were understandably devistated when it was discovered that Cooper has a significant hole in his heart called an ASD, and was immediately refered to a cardiologist in Melbourne where he is on the waiting list for open heart surgery, and this is most likely going to be done early next year.

Jodie is always so possitive, and the 1st to offer me help when someone in my family is unwell. She inspires me, to help Veronika maximise her potential, and I am truely blessed to have Jodie as my friend.

Because of Hamishes condition, Jodie and Eddie don’t know how long the are blessed to have Hamish with them, there is the very real possibility that he may not wake up from his sleep tonight. Jodie is unable to return to work, as Hamish needs care 24 hours a day. When i asked Jodie if she would be happy for me to nominate her, she almost cried as she would never to be able to afford to get professional family photos taken, i know she and Eddie would truely appreciate and cherish any photos if they were selected as the winners.

Thanks for running this, I think its great to be able to tell you friends that you are so inspired by them that you want to nominate them, even though we shouldn’t need a reason to tell them they are amazing…….

I’ve just gotten off the phone to Jodie, who was over the moon and extremely amazed by the win. I feel so humbled and privelidged to be able to do this for Jodie and her family. I’m finding it hard to type this without tears welling in my eyes.

I hope you and your family have the most Merry Christmas Jodie!

Life is Precious … Capture It

September 18, 2009

On Tuesday I had the pleasure of photographing Kerryn and Ella. Kerryn was the winner of our Springtime Competition – and boy doesn’t she deserve it!

Last year Kerryn’s husband passed away and as if that wouldn’t be a struggle in itself, little Ella (who isn’t even 2 years old yet) has recently been diagnosed with leukaemia. What an amazing and brave family they are despite all of this. Ella is just so so sweet, the poor thing having to deal with the effects of the treatment – she was adament with what she wanted and didn’t want. It was either “weally weally weally, pwease” with the cutest and most angelic look on her face; or it was “NO WAY” with the defiant arms crossed across her chest. What a cutie!

Kerryn I completely admire your strength and positivity. I hope these photos bring a little bit (even if it’s just a teeny widdle bit) of extra  joy into your lives.
