Maddi vs The Cake : Hobart Child Photographer

Friday, September 23rd, 2011

I’m finding it hard to believe that my niece is now 1. Over the year I have photographed her 5 times. As a newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months …

… And now 12 months.

Having a bit of a dance.

Then we bought out the cake!!

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY Maddison, can’t wait to watch you grow over the next 12 months.

Veronika WILL walk : Hobart Cake Smash Photographer

Monday, May 16th, 2011

If you are ever going to read any blog post of mine, this is the one to take right in:

Taken from certain posts of Kylee’s blog “Veronika Anne“:

When Kylee was around 36 weeks pregnant with Veronika she was told her unborn child had had a massive bleed in her brain. Later they were told that it should of killed her, as she basically had the worse grade stroke a person can have … and she had it before she was born!  At birth Veronika was also diagnosed with Downs Syndrome and a congenital heart defect (with a hole in the heart – which is now shrinking!). Just before she had her 1st Birthday she was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy(CP). Veronika also has hemiplegia, which affects her movement down the left side of her body.

These next 2 paragraphs are a direct quote from post Kylee made on her blog in February.

When your baby is 1 week old, and she has her 1st MRI and the results aren’t what you thought you would ever hear, let alone something you never want to hear……”Veronika has an injury to her brain from the bleed she had before she was born, and we believe that it will affect her movement down the left side of her body, and she will most likely never walk”….

I guess at that point in you make a decision, one of two possible options I guess. You either think ‘oh well, if that’s how its gonna be, why bother,’ OR ‘Yes she will walk, and we will come back in when she does and say I TOLD YOU SO’.

Kind of grabs your heart doesn’t it? I know personally, with having my own children, that any kind of minor problem (like our 3 year old’s recent fractured leg) sends a parent into defense mode. And that’s just something tiny, imagine having a child that needs sooo much more. What wouldn’t we do for our kids? Imagine feeling so overwhelmed that what you need to do for your child is impossible? Well, Kylee felt that – but in this crazy wonderful world we live in, she has realised that we don’t have to deal with things alone.

She has gathered her strength and will power, focussed on her hopes and dreams for her precious daughter and with the help of some amazing people, is putting together two amazing Gala’s to make it so “Veronika Will Walk” !! And that’s soooo exciting I can barely contain myself. Their basic goal: “We are raising money to help Veronika defy doctors and learn to walk, She needs a hydro therapy spa at home to do this.”

For this incredible endeavour to succeed, they need YOUR help. Go to that link up there (the one that says “Veronika Will Walk” ;) ) and if you live in Hobart area purchase tickets for one or both of the galas! If you don’t live in Hobart area, fear not, there is a donate button on the facebook page.

If you happen to go to the gala, say “Hi” if you spot me – I’ll be the one with the camera permanently attached, documenting the events as a part of my Fears into Fun Project. Also, for all you bargain hunters, I have 2 “Digital Collections” up for grabs at the adult gala auction, both worth $500 each!! See if you can go in and get them at a much cheaper rate and also help Veronika in the process - WIN WIN! :)

And now without further ado, I’d like to wish Veronika a very Happy 3rd Birthday … and yes, she has many a health problem (some more of which aren’t even mentioned in this post) but none of those things define her. All you have to do is just look into her sparkling eyes, her heart right there on her sleeve, and feel the warmth of her gorgeous melt your heart smile! What a divine princess and I imagine the sunshine of her family’s life.

Happy Cake Smash Day : Hobart Cake Smash Photographer

Monday, April 25th, 2011

Little Miss Molly has just turned 1! So it’s time for some cake!

I know I shouldn’t say this, but she has to be the MOST photogenic kid around! I mean seriously – when she is not even smiling she looks completely and utterly gorgeous. It’s those eyes – they are so big and wide and innocently cheeky. So cute.

Happy Birthday Molly.

Cake = Demolished : Hobart Cake Smash Photographer

Monday, August 30th, 2010

I met Sally in Primary School, almost immediately we became best friends. She was everything I was too scared to be … confident, funny, outgoing, friendly.  She was the first friend that gave me the freedom to be myself, who made me comfortable without any judgements. She taught me how to be a good friend to others in the same way.

To this day the presence she had in my life during those School days, will always stay close to my heart. So when she asked me to photograph her daughter for her 2nd birthday, I was thrilled.

And what a complete sweetheart little Emma is. The way her eyes twinkle when she smiles is sooo contagious. I’m willing to bet she is going to grow up to be just as awesome as her Mummy.

As Precious as a Flower : Hobart Cake Smash Photographer

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

A couple of weeks ago I had a dilemma. I had ordered a cake for a cake smash session but when I realised I hadn’t discussed the cake with the clients it was too late and they had already made their own! Oops to me. I couldn’t waste this beautiful cake I had. So I put out a desperate call for a cake smash for the next day …

Enter Iris, the sweetest little big doe eyed darling I ever did see.

Thanks to Cutie Cups for the amazing Giant Cupcake.

Butterflies, Cakes and Pretty Dresses : Hobart Cake Smash Photographer

Monday, August 16th, 2010

I apologise in advance, for once again I have many many images to share. I can’t help it, my clients just have the cutest of cute children.

Lakayah is about to celebrate her 1st birthday and to put this momentus occasion down in the history books forever, we had a cake smash session! Too. Much . Fun.

She was so cute and petite, picking all the decorations of the gorgeous butterfly cake first. A real little princess.

Cake Smash Time : Hobart Child Photographer

Friday, May 7th, 2010

If you haven’t already realised, I loooooove cake smash sessions. Every single one is completely different, I just love seeing how each individual child takes to the cake. Some trash it within one minute, some pick and nibble, some freak out with dirty hands, some walk in it, sit in it, roll in it …

Some, as in this little mans case, don’t eat it but rather just lick it. But he proved, even if the cake doesn’t get eaten, you can still have plenty of fun!

Meet Cooper, the cutest little 1 year old, with many many many expressions.

What a crack up this next lot of photos are, his different faces had me in stitches …

Double the Celebration : Hobart Cake Smash Photographer

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Today’s photosession had many meanings for me. It commemorated an exact year since I started port folio building.

My very first photo session was with Harrison, at only a few days old. Here is a photo from that session: sweet hands.

So in a rather poetic circle, how awesome was it that now a whole year later my very last port folio building session is with the same little man. Who is having a celebration of his own, of course, his 1st Birthday. And what does that mean in my world? Cake Smash time.

So here I am on the Eve’s Eve of launching my fully fledged business. Watch the changes take place from March 1st and follow my fanpage on facebook for awesome promotions in the first week.

My baby’s cake smash!

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Oh my sweet little baby has just turned 2! Wow. Two whole years, it seems a long time – but it sure feels like I’ve known him longer. Gorgeous little thing.

So I planned to give him a cake smash session … and it did not go as I expected. He was just sooo proper, he wouldn’t get into it at all, picking at it like the lovely little prince he is. And then, when he realised his hands were dirty and he couldn’t wipe them clean on the floor, he decided he’d had enough!

I made him a GIANT cupcake with a groovy number 2 candle!

Look at the look on his face in the next one – it’s like he’s saying “I didn’t do it!” And this time, he really didn’t do it!  It might look like he got stuck into that cake and really did make a mess of it, but no such luck. This cake “smash” was courtesy of Daddy. But just pretend I didn’t tell you that and look at it and see how much fun and amazement the child has with cake smashes!!

Here you go cake, have your candle back! How tidy of him, putting things back to where they were when we started!!

And one more, as an outtake/pullback. He cried because I wouldn’t let him wipe his hands on me – how mean am I, not only am I not cleaning my child when he has horrible cake and cream all over him, I am also taking a photo of it!

And here is the cutest of cute storyboards that I offer with the cake smash package.
