Giving Is Awesome Winner!

December 24, 2009

A few weeks ago I posted asking for people to nominate someone who has had a tough year, whether it has been from emotional stress, financial burdens, health problems, the loss of a loved one etc. Now I have the pleasure of announcing the winner of a free photo session and my highest collection, worth over $600.

CONGRATULATIONS Jodie Willis, nominated by the generous Kylee Davie.

Here is the entry submitted by Kylee:

I had the pleasure of meeting Jodie thru Early Childhood Intervention Services, where I take Veronika, earlier this year. Straight away I was drawn to her and the positive energy around her. She is truely beautiful inside and out. Jodie is married to Eddie and together they are blessed with 2 beautiful and perfect boys, Cooper who is 3 and Hamish who is 19 months. When Jodie had her 20 weeks scan when pregnant with Hamish, it was discovered that he has a very rare heart condition, hypoplastic left heart syndrome, where basically only one side of his heart works. Jodie had to go to melbourne when she was around 34 weeks pregnant as her Doctor was not happy for her to have Hamish here. Hamish survived the birth, and was rushed to the Royal Childrens Hospital in Melbourne, (Jodie had to have him at the Womens Hospital). You would need to check with Jodie, but i think he was operated on that day or the next. It was around 7 months later when they got to bring Hamish home, to Hobart. Jodie has had to educate the ambulance officers in her area, how to deal with Hamishes condition, as when he has his episodes when he goes blue, they have had some very fast ambulances trips to the Royal. I think Hamish has had around 7 heart operations since birth, and is hoping to not need any more for around a year. He is so gorgeous and his eyes are amazing, you would love to photograph him!!

When Cooper had an appointment with his paedatrican recently it was discovered that he had murmur in his heart, and because of Hamishes condition they decided to investigate this further. Jodie(and Eddie) were understandably devistated when it was discovered that Cooper has a significant hole in his heart called an ASD, and was immediately refered to a cardiologist in Melbourne where he is on the waiting list for open heart surgery, and this is most likely going to be done early next year.

Jodie is always so possitive, and the 1st to offer me help when someone in my family is unwell. She inspires me, to help Veronika maximise her potential, and I am truely blessed to have Jodie as my friend.

Because of Hamishes condition, Jodie and Eddie don’t know how long the are blessed to have Hamish with them, there is the very real possibility that he may not wake up from his sleep tonight. Jodie is unable to return to work, as Hamish needs care 24 hours a day. When i asked Jodie if she would be happy for me to nominate her, she almost cried as she would never to be able to afford to get professional family photos taken, i know she and Eddie would truely appreciate and cherish any photos if they were selected as the winners.

Thanks for running this, I think its great to be able to tell you friends that you are so inspired by them that you want to nominate them, even though we shouldn’t need a reason to tell them they are amazing…….

I’ve just gotten off the phone to Jodie, who was over the moon and extremely amazed by the win. I feel so humbled and privelidged to be able to do this for Jodie and her family. I’m finding it hard to type this without tears welling in my eyes.

I hope you and your family have the most Merry Christmas Jodie!

Ryans Cake Smash

December 14, 2009

Today is the first day in a looooong time that I don’t have anything I need to process. So when these times come around, I quickly get stuck into my own photos.

I had Ryans cake smash sneak peek way back when … October to be precise! Now I have finished them all and here is the cutest of cute (might be a lil bit bias) storyboards.

I love cake smashes and these storyboards are included in the cake smash package I offer. What a fun way to celebrate your little one’s 1st or 2nd birthday!!

An afternoon at the Beach

December 11, 2009

So on Wednesday I met up with some relatives for some photos. I can’t work out if they are 3rd cousins or not? Maybe it’s 4th? Their Grandma is my Dad’s cousin anyway…

I haven’t seen them since they were well under 10 years old, I got a shock when they showed up for the session - now they are all grown up and just gorgeous people, inside and out.

Their lovely Grandma organised the photos and I hope that everyone likes them. Here’s a sneak peek from the session.

Giving Is Awesome!

December 6, 2009

givingisawesome900x100

You know someone.

You know someone who’s experienced a life tragedy, has a terminally ill and courageous family member, someone who is raising kids while holding down more than one job after their spouse has passed away, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances.

You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would truly cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who really deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.

You know of someone. I guarantee it. I want to know who they are, and I want to give them complimentary custom photography — over $675 worth, to be exact.

They will get a free session and my highest Collection, which includes: – 15 prints of choice (includes sizes from wallets to 8X12), 16X16 storyboard, 16X24 enlargement, session album, all 15+ digital negatives

Oh, and the other cool part? The person who nominates the winner receives a free session and my first Collection, total worth $100!

What better reason to show some love could there possibly be?

OK, those are the goods, so here are the conditions:

* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services and would wholeheartedly appreciate and accept the gift. (I will be very choosy with who wins and I need several to choose from.)

* The nominee must reside within the surrounding suburbs of Hobart, TAS and the session must take place by January 31, 2010. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include email and a phone number as a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

* You must e-mail me the full story to me at dani@dreamandjustbelieve.com.  The deadline to nominate someone is Sunday December 20, 2009 at 10pm. The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve.

So get nominating! I can’t wait to read all of your entries! Open your heart to someone this holiday season — and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

Love Dani xx

Huon River

December 5, 2009

On Thursday admist all my Christmas Orders, I took a break and met up with the Lovell family down on the bank of the Huon River.

I had fun following this bunch of gorgeous kiddies around the park. I hope to have captured their cute personalities – they are such characters!

There will be more to come on this session in the coming week, but because I have been a little bit busy (read: snowed under) with Christmas orders this week – I have only one to share. But what a beauty it is hey?

This shot wasn’t easy, it took a ton of patience from Mum and bubs – it wasn’t really planned and while the twins were relaxed we just decided to wing it with this pose!! What a result, they look so bonded and peaceful – I could just stare at this photo all day! *love*

Can’t wait to show you more from this session … but for now – back to work!

Little Isabella

December 3, 2009

Last Sunday, this session was planned to be outside … but story of the week, it rained. So we had to make do with an impromtu inside shoot. I think they still turned out lovely.

Isabella is 2 and just a little treasure, check out those gorgeous eyes and hair on her. She was most interested in my camera bag and what amazing things she could find in there: keys, mobile, lens lids – fun fun fun!

Finally here to blog the next half of the session. It rained (read: poured) all morning, the day was not looking promising. Then the clouds lifted just one hour before our session and miraculously we all stayed dry throughout the whole session!! Yay!

We met in Richmond this time and here are some results.
