Brendan + Louise : Wedding at The Beach, Blackmans Bay

May 14th, 2012

2 years ago, my Joel (now 7) was in Kindergarten. He’d rush home from School and tell me all about his days often raving about his wonderful teacher, who he called “Missa Strong” (AKA Miss Armstrong). Well amazed was he when I told him I would be photographing his first ever teachers wedding!

I had such a wonderful day photographing Louise and Brendan’s wedding, who also opted for the increasingly popular “First Look“. Their lovely ceremony was held in Margate, followed by a picturesque reception at The Beach Restaurant in Blackmans Bay.

Anna + Brendon – Married : Hobart Wedding Photographer

February 10th, 2012

In between the craziness that is Christmas and New Years, Anna & Brendon slowed the rush down to tie the knot in a small and very sweet way.

When describing to me how her wedding day would be, Anna made me a very happy photographer. Completely casual, intimate, their closest family and friends, children running around doing what they wanted.

And their day was nothing less. A beautiful occasion for all their loved ones.

Rod + Liz ~ Married : Hobart Wedding Photographer

January 20th, 2012

It was a hot summer day, the sun beat down in full force, not a single cloud was in sight. The excitement of Christmas was lurking around the corner … but this day, this day’s excitement was all about Rod and Liz. A day dedicated to them and their true love.

I’d like to take this chance to give a shout out to Steve Lovegrove, who came along and 2nd shot for me on the day. Many many thanks for your time and talents.

Sam + Amber ~ Married : Hobart Wedding Photographer

April 30th, 2011

I’m so excited to share this wedding with you all – what a beautiful, fun and relaxed couple Sam and Amber are. Their wedding day reflected these qualities in it’s entirety! From start to finish I LOVED. EVERY. SECOND!

From the buzz of getting ready, to their first look, to the exquisitely decorated reception – the whole day was one big ball of awesome.

Let me just tell you how I sat next to Amber’s gorgeous cousin at the reception and she told me the cutest story about the couple. How when they were at School, they would find writings on the ground by Sam – saying things like: “Amber is the hottest girl in School” and “I love Amber”! Couldn’t you just melt! I’m so corny, I just love things like that.

Sam & Amber, thankyou so much for letting me capture your day. You make such a wonderful couple – have THE BEST honeymoon. xx

First Look : Hobart Wedding Photographer

April 27th, 2011

Straight up, welcome to my new blog dedicated to all things love. Weddings, engagement sessions, couples, anniversaries – it’s all about the love!

Next … let’s talk about a thing called “First Look”.

If you haven’t heard of what this is, I won’t be surprised – and when I explain it, I also won’t be surprised if it doesn’t appeal to you … but bear with me, because it’s truly awesome!!!

A first look, is where the bride and groom get together BEFORE the ceremony. Now I know most people like tradition but I will tell you why I think it’s absolutely wonderful to start new traditions! The chance to savour the moment of seeing your significant other longer than the quick walk down the aisle, I mean what a beautiful moment that is … and what a quick and busy moment that is, barely a chance to hear your own thoughts, add the nerves a whole bunch of staring people give and that moment is forgotten in an instant.

So what if you could take THAT moment and freeze it in time? Let the whole world just disappear so it’s only the two of you experiencing that moment, right there and then – for as long as you like … sooooo romantic.

I also love this as a chance to then take the portrait photos of the bridal couple and the bridal party. Instead of the usual – cramming photos in between the ceremony and reception, all the while everyone just wants to relax, mingle and celebrate.

I also find it sad that a whole day is dedicated to your marriage, yet the only time you get to be alone together is at the end of the day.

After experiencing a few “first look”‘s, as a photographer I HAVE to say … the whole day just runs so much smoother and so much more relaxed. The chance to get many awesome photos with plenty of time to relax before the ceremony … and then in between the ceremony and reception, the bride and groom are able to spend time with their guests. PERFECT DAY!

Here are a couple of moments where the bride and groom see each other for the first time and being able to savour the moment. LOVE!

Josh + Alicia – Married (Part 1) : Hobart Wedding Photographer

February 12th, 2011

As the days got closer to Josh &  Alicia’s wedding, the more nervous I became. I’m not entirely sure why. Could have been for the fact we had 2 hours for portraits between the ceremony and reception (compared to a much shorter time span most others have had), with that longer time frame I had more of a chance to get some AWESOME shots – and the nerves hit about nailing it, I mean if I can’t get that right, there’s got to be something wrong! It could have been the fact that it was my first wedding of the year and I wanted to start it off with a bang. It could have been the fact that Josh is my husbands boss – I mean how much pressure is that!?

I’m not sure why I bothered to worry so much … the couple were both relaxed, gracious and adorably in-love! What more could I need?

The day started off with a trip to Lustre Hair & Beauty, who with their expertise and efficiency had 6, no 7, no … well a whole truckload of girls hair and makeup completed within 2.5 hours! How amazing is that!?

Then it was time for a quick breather at the bride’s Mum house before I checked out what the men were up to. And this is hilarious … the house number was 70 not 701 – and yes, I drove kms after kms before I got to a very narrow gravel windy road up a hill before I realised something wasn’t quite right! Ha! I got there in the end to find the boys struggling with ties and button hole roses.

There’s no other bigger breath taking moment than seeing an already gorgeous woman transform into an elegant stunning bride as she puts on her gown. A.MA.ZING!

The whole week before their wedding day, the forecast threatened rain. Although they say it’s good luck for it to rain on your wedding day right?

And some good luck they had … just before the ceremony – a small shower, during the ceremony – clear skies, just after the ceremony – another shower! Perfect timing or what!?

At this time I’d like to give a big shout out to my 2nd shooter during the ceremony, the awesome of awesomes Amber Robinson from True Lurve Photography. Woop. This next gorgeous set of photos were taken by her (edited by me).

Max + Margaret : Hobart Couple Photographer

February 12th, 2011

Max and Margaret’s beautiful daughter contacted me while planning a surprise day for her parent’s 60th Anniversary. Her and her siblings had planned a whole day full of surprises and I was surprise #1. A morning photosession to celebrate their love.

They welcomed me with warmth and showed me what long-lasting love looks like.

Greg + Aleisha : Hobart Couple Photographer

Aleisha won a competition I held last year to win a MASSIVE canvas and 25 digital negatives. In amongst family photos, were glimpses of their love.
